Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at hannahstudio73@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Mat Pilates can improve strength, flexibility, posture, balance, and coordination. It can also help reduce stress and tension, alleviate back pain, and improve overall body awareness.

Booking is easy and done via the Gymcatch App.

To use the app, you need to download it on your mobile device (iOS or Android) or access it via a web browser. The app allows you to find fitness providers, book and pay for sessions, and manage your schedule.

If you need help, just drop us a message — we’re happy to guide you through it.

No — at Studio73, we focus solely on heated and non-heated mat-based Pilates. We believe in the simplicity, accessibility, and deep effectiveness of mat work.
All our classes are taught using the floor, your own body weight, and supportive props like bands, blocks, and balls.

We’ve chosen this approach intentionally — because mat Pilates allows us to guide you into slower, breath-led movement that connects deeply with the nervous system. It’s grounded, spacious, and doesn’t rely on machines to deliver results.

If you’re looking for mindful movement, core strength, and a stronger connection to your body — mat Pilates offers everything you need, and then some.

All of our classes are 45 minutes.

Our studio holds a maximum of 8 clients per class, so every session feels personal, safe, and spacious. You’ll never feel like just another number here — our small-group approach is intentional, and it’s what makes the experience feel so different.

Absolutely. Mat Pilates is incredibly beginner-friendly and can be adapted for all levels. At Studio73, we guide you with clear, trauma-informed language and focus on building strength gently and gradually.

Wear whatever you feel comfortable moving in — soft leggings, a T-shirt, or even joggers. No need for fancy activewear. We move barefoot or in grippy socks.

Just yourself, some water, and comfy clothes you can move in. We provide mats and all props you’ll need — but you’re always welcome to bring your own if you prefer.

Our beautiful studio is located in Cottam, Preston.

Our full address is:

73 Hoyles Ln, Cottam, Preston PR4 0LB

There is limited parking available outside Studio73. However there are various options for on street parking and a private driveway at Studio73 that you can use, however spaces are limited. As we are located in a residential area, please be mindful of other attendees and resident driveways.

2–3 classes a week is a great place to start. Once a week can help with maintenance and gentle movement. Consistency matters more than intensity — move at a pace that supports your lifestyle and energy levels.

Yes — many clients come to us specifically to support their back health. Mat Pilates strengthens your core and improves alignment, which can relieve pressure on the spine and ease tension.

Very much so. Mat Pilates helps regulate the nervous system through breath-led movement and mindfulness. Many clients describe their class as their weekly “reset” — a space to slow down, release stress, and reconnect.

Not at all. Flexibility is something we build gradually through movement. You’ll never be expected to push beyond your limits — we move in a way that honours your body as it is.

We offer cycle-aware, inclusive teaching. If you’re pregnant, postnatal, or navigating an injury or condition, let us know before class so we can adapt the movements safely for you.

Mat Pilates is performed entirely on the floor without a machine. It’s accessible, travel-friendly, and deeply effective. While Reformer Pilates uses spring resistance, mat Pilates challenges your body using gravity and control — building true, functional strength.

In most cases, yes — but we ask that you check with your GP or physio first. Then, let us know before class so we can support you with modifications. Our approach is gentle and adaptable, and we’re here to make sure you feel safe throughout.
